Zine The Battle of Nuremberg

Football is war. This rang especially true in the most infamous game of football of my youth; ‘The Battle of Nuremberg’. The Netherlands faced Portugal in the 2006 FIFA World Cup round of 16, and the pitch looked more like a battlefield, strewn with casualties from both opposite forces. In this Zine I captured every foul that led to a card, set in duotone in the relevant card colour. There were a lot of them. There were more iconic moments with a crying Ronaldo, and a bittersweet moment with van Bronckhorst and Deco side to side on the sideline after their send-off.

Zine To my Ukrainian Neighbour

Reminiscing about a night wildcamping in the Aosta Valley during my hike around the Mont Blanc Massif, when a Ukrainian backpacker appeared and camped next to me on a small plot of grass. He didn’t speak English. I don’t speak Ukrainian.

'van Zoggel takes you on a personal road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway 101. However, this is far from the traditional rose tinted free spirit of the open road, but rather an honest memoire of his anxious mind leading the way...'

Mostly written in the early hours on the backseat of an Uber on my way back to JFK airport after visiting a good friend in New York. Upon arriving back home in London the next day, appropriately jet lagged, I got to work and put this Zine together with the notes written in the Uber, scribbles in my notepad, pictures on my phone, and whatever else emerged out of my carry-on rucksack.

Paris just adores a cigarette. Did you know that Mbappe smokes? And Neymar Jr. The Notre Dame smokes (sorry, I know it actually was smoking recently) the Chat Noire has black lungs. Even James Bond was there having a cig.
In this Zine I went through my camera roll after visiting a friend in Paris. I then photoshopped cigarettes in each image, and wrote some Frenglish words to go with it.

A CD Lyric booklet clashing late 90’s culture with todays. Taking the angsty aggressive tracks from my youth and peppering some of today’s cultural phenomena throughout their lyrics.
‘And if my day keeps going this way I just might - unfollow you on Instagram - tonight!!!’

Norway Roadtrip. Beautiful pristine views outside the windows. Inside less clarity. A raw word-dump straight from the mind, juxtaposed with nature’s beautiful scenes.

Snaps around Hackney of dumped Christmas trees on a walk in January when the Christmas cheer makes way for the January Blues. I used an AI writing tool to write some depressing random Christmas poems to accompany the pictures.
